M4A is the format Apple reaches for by default. Every recording made in the Voice Memos app, most GarageBand exports, and a lot of other Apple ecosystem audio comes out as an .m4a file. Do M4A files from iPhone Voice Memos work without converting them first?
Yes. Transkio accepts .m4a files directly, so you can upload a Voice Memos recording exactly as it comes off your iPhone. There's no need to convert it to MP3 or any other format first.
What's the maximum M4A file size I can upload?
The free plan allows files up to 100 MB, which covers most individual Voice Memos recordings. Paid plans raise that limit, and the Ultra plan supports files up to 8 GB for longer or higher-quality recordings.
Can Transkio tell different speakers apart in a Voice Memos recording?
Yes, on the Elite plan and above. If your M4A recording has more than one person talking — a meeting, an interview, a conversation — Transkio labels each speaker in the transcript, and you can rename those labels afterward.
Does Transkio translate my M4A transcript into another language?
The Pro plan and up can translate the transcript text into another language. That produces a translated text transcript; it doesn't currently generate translated subtitle files.
