Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We also use localStorage, a similar browser-storage mechanism that, unlike cookies, isn't sent to any server — it just stays on your device.

2. Categories you control

Our cookie banner — reopen it any time with , linked in this site's footer — lets you turn each of these on or off independently:

  • Statistics: anonymous, aggregated usage events (for example, a transcription finished, an export was downloaded) via Google Analytics. Never the content of your recordings or transcripts. Nothing loads until you opt in.
  • Marketing: cookies from advertising partners to measure campaigns. We run none today — this category only matters if that changes.
  • External media: content hosted by video platforms, like our YouTube walkthrough. Blocked until you accept this category or load a video individually.

3. Cookies and storage we use

  • transkio_consent — localStorage, not a cookie. Remembers your choice for each category above, plus when you last updated it. Essential to remembering your preference at all, so it's not gated by consent.
  • theme — localStorage. Remembers whether you prefer light or dark mode. Essential, not gated by consent.
  • _ga, _ga_* — Google Analytics cookies. Only set after you accept the Statistics category.
  • Video-platform cookies — set by the embedded player only after you accept External media, or choose to load a specific video anyway. Our demo video loads from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain, which avoids setting tracking cookies until you actually press play.
  • Firebase Authentication session cookies/tokens — essential, used only to keep you signed in; not gated by consent.

4. Your choices

Change your choice at any time via in this site's footer, or by clearing your browser's site data for transkio.com. Most browsers also let you block cookies globally, though that may break sign-in and other features.

5. Changes to this policy

We'll update the effective date above whenever this policy changes, and post a notice on this site for material changes.
