What is Transkio?
Transkio is an AI transcription service. Upload an audio or video file — or record a meeting straight from your browser — and it returns an editable transcript with timestamps, plus summaries, translations and subtitle files on paid plans.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. A free account comes with 60 trial minutes, then 30 minutes every month, with no credit card required. Free transcripts export as TXT, SRT, VTT.
How accurate are the transcripts?
Accuracy depends on the recording: clear speech with little background noise transcribes very well, while crosstalk, heavy accents or a distant microphone lower it. Every transcript opens in an editor so you can fix names and terms before exporting — please review AI transcripts before relying on them.
Which file formats can I upload?
MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, OPUS, FLAC and WebM audio, and MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM and MPEG video. Files up to 100 MB on the free plan and up to 8 GB on Ultra.
Can I record a meeting instead of uploading a file?
Yes. The in-browser recorder captures your microphone, and on Pro and above it can also capture tab audio from Zoom, Google Meet or any browser call. Free recordings run up to 30 minutes; Ultra allows 8 hours per session.
Does it tell speakers apart?
Speaker detection labels each turn (Speaker 1, Speaker 2, …) so you can rename them in the editor. It is included on the Elite and Ultra plans.
Which languages are supported?
50+ languages, including English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish and Russian. Language is detected automatically, or you can set it before transcribing. Translation into another language is available from Pro.
How long does transcription take?
Usually a few minutes for an hour of audio — files are processed in parallel and you get an email when the transcript is ready. Elite and Ultra are queued first when the service is busy.
Can I get subtitles or a summary?
SRT and VTT subtitle files are available on every plan, including free. AI summaries with key points and action items are included on Elite and Ultra.
What export formats are there?
TXT, SRT, VTT on the free plan; paid plans add DOCX and JSON (TXT, SRT, VTT, JSON, DOCX) — with or without timestamps and speaker labels.
Is my audio private?
Your files and transcripts are private to your account, stored encrypted, and you can delete them at any time. We don't use your recordings to train models. See the AI Policy and Privacy Policy for the details.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Uploading, recording, editing and exporting all happen in the browser on desktop and mobile — nothing to install and no browser extension.
