AI & Transcription Policy

Transkio is built around AI, and we think you should know exactly how it's used on your recordings. This page covers that in plain language; our Privacy Policy covers data handling more broadly.

1. How we use AI

When you upload or record audio/video, we send it to a third-party AI provider to generate a transcript. From that transcript (and, for some features, the audio itself), AI also powers summaries, translations, and speaker diarization when you request them. We don't use AI to edit, moderate, or make decisions about your account.

2. What data is sent to AI providers

The audio or video content itself — not just a text transcript — is sent to our transcription provider so it can generate accurate output, including speaker separation. For summaries and translation, the transcript text is sent to a language-model provider. Your audio and transcripts are never used to train AI models.

3. Accuracy and limitations

AI-generated transcripts may contain errors — please review before relying on them. Accuracy drops with poor audio quality, heavy accents, background noise, overlapping speakers, and specialized or uncommon vocabulary. Speaker labels ("Speaker 1", "Speaker 2") are AI-inferred and can be wrong, especially with more than a couple of speakers. Always review AI-generated transcripts, summaries, and translations before relying on them for anything important — including medical, legal, or other high-stakes use.

4. Your responsibilities

  • You're responsible for having the right to record and upload the content you send through Transkio, including any consent required from other participants — see our Terms of Service §2.
  • You're responsible for reviewing AI output before acting on it.
  • Don't upload content you don't have rights to, or that violates the law.

5. Content ownership

You own the transcripts, summaries, translations, and subtitles generated from your content, the same as you own the original recording. Our AI providers process your content to generate that output — they don't retain rights to it.

6. Changes to this policy

We'll update the effective date above whenever this policy changes, including if we change AI providers in a way that affects what data is shared or how.
